Lyrics

Thieves stand in the courtyard
Dressed as poets and as night guards
Between the walls and the steel bars
In the silence of the old east wing
Interred in their tower
And called by the power
Of the rolling tabloid martyr
And the light that cuts the rain

The wooden horse lies broken
Scheming truths are spoken
Knowing all luck lies in fortune
As the past is carved away
Sheriff’s hold their breath in silence
Peace arises from defiance
‘Neath the thrones of white-eyed giants
And all to the queen’s dismay

It was written by the chancers
Heras holds the answers
For the lying sculptor rambles
And the scholars await their fate
The marble walls did crumble
As the judge’s verdict mumbled
And the drunken jury stumbled
Knowing deaf ears came too late

The jester holds the scripture
His love holds the key to the switcher
The stained glass is more than a fixture
As the prophets cut the ties
Medusa held the lighter
For my green-eyed scribe play-writer
Fell asleep before she was tired
Just so time would pass her by
